Plant Care "Marble Queen" Pothos
House Plants Flowers

How to care for the Pothos "Marble Queen" indoor plant. "Marble Queen" Pothos plant is a popular houseplant and one of my own personal favorites. Known in some places as Money Plants or Devil's Ivy, the botanical names for Pothos plant are Scindapsus Aureus or Epipremnum Aureum. "Marble Queen" plant can be used as a table plant, hanging plant or trained to climb a trellis or pole.

Plant Care Pothos "Marble Queen"

Pothos indoor plant, including the "Marble Queen", is on my list of the best indoor house plants, for their ease of care and durability. As you can see, it has a dark, glossy green leaf "painted" with white. It should stay that way in bright light but if kept in lower light it may start to lose some of the white in the leaf and show more of the green. The Golden Pothos and Jade Pothos are also great plants to grow as indoor house plants.

Lower light will also mean less frequent watering of indoor Pothos Marble Queen plants. Other common Pothos are the Golden Pothos, which is marbled with yellow and green, and the Jade Pothos, which is all green.

⚘ How This Website Started ⚘

Hi Plant and Flower People!

I started this website in 2012 while helping my younger brother through a fight with terminal cancer. Between shopping, cleaning, cooking, laundry, doctor/hospital visits, and other tasks to help him, I taught myself HTML/CSS and other skills used in creating a website. My brother had a very successful stock photography website himself and his advice to me was to make a website about something you know.

I had left a job in the interior landscape industry in 2012 (I have worked in the interior landscape industry since 1986) to go across the country to help him out. So that became the subject of this website, indoor house plant and flower care.

It costs money for hosting service, domain fees, etc. to keep websites running. That is why I have third party ads/Amazon products and other affiliate links on webpages. Please use them if they are helpful to you as I earn commissions/ad revenue through them and they help pay costs for hosting, domain name, etc.

If you need some help with the general care of your indoor plants and flowers, read about basic houseplant care. You can also email houseplant care questions or requests for help identifying your mysterious indoor plant!

Please also consider supporting this website with a donation, if you can. Any help is appreciated. Hope you find some helpful information here. Thank you and read on Plant People!

Included in a study by NASA, Pothos has been found to be extra efficient at helping to clean indoor air. So you can now grow your own fresh air by keeping and growing a Pothos "Marble Queen" plant!

Pothos "Marble Queen" Plant
How To Water

From spring through summer, the Pothos "Marble Queen" can be watered after the top half of the soil has dried out. Let dry almost completely fall through winter. There are a few things to consider before you decide to water any of your indoor tropical plants. Please read the section on watering your potted plants for more information.

Pothos "Marble Queen" Plant
Other Care Tips

Temperatures for Pothos "Marble Queen" plant should be kept between 60 - 85 degrees. A bright, indirectly lit spot is ideal. Variegation will fade in lower light. I have grown a few of these in rooms lit by the afternoon sun and had good results. Very large leaves with great variegation, but the water usage goes way up. They will wilt and scorch if let to dry in a sunny spot so the indirect light is safer.

Pothos "Marble Queen" will produce aerial roots if kept in optimum conditions and will attach themselves to wood, brick or your walls if they get a chance. Pothos is a good plant to use if you want a "climbing" plant. Very often they are used in hanging containers and allowed to trail over the edge, which makes a great display.

As the vines of your Pothos "Marble Queen" plant get longer, lift the longest and cut back almost to the soil, just above a leaf node. This will promote new runners and will help keep the plant from becoming too leggy or sparse. Pinching out new growth tips will also help induce fuller growth.

Mealybugs are one of the most common insect problems that you will have with Pothos "Marble Queen"`. Keep a watchful eye out for this pest, especially when you first bring a new plant home. An oval shaped, somewhat flattened body and six legs distinguish this insect, although they can appear to have more legs because of their "antennae" and "tails".

A waxy, protective substance covers the body of adult mealy bugs and egg sacs giving them a cottony appearance. Normally found in hidden areas, mealy bugs can be hard to detect. Check the undersides of the leaves and in leaf axils. If your plant feels sticky, mealy bugs may be the cause. They excrete a sticky substance called honeydew. The color of mealybugs will be white or gray.

It is a good idea to quarantine any new additions to your indoor house plant family for a few weeks just to be sure there are not any insects or diseases that were not noticed at first. Wash down your new indoor house plant with a mixture of water and mild dish detergent to remove and discourage any insects. I like to add a few drops of Eucalyptus essential oil or Orange essential oil to my house plant cleaning solution.

Gently clean the top and lower leaf and stem surfaces of your house plants. You can clean by hand or use a spray bottle to apply your house plant cleaning solution. I use a sponge moistened with my cleaning solution to gently wipe the top and lower leaf surfaces. Cleaning of your indoor house plants should be a regular part of your house plant care.

Never apply anything to your plant's foliage until it has been watered and moved out of any direct sun. Hope this has been helpful as you care for your indoor Pothos "Marble Queen" plant and that all of your flowers and plants are healthy and growing.
