House Plant Flowers
If you know the name of your house plant, this list of common house plants from A to Z may help you find out about your indoor plants and flowers and the care of your house plant. I have listed here, in alphabetical order, many of the most common indoor house plants and flowers with pictures.
This list is not a complete list of plants or flowering plants ever used as an indoor plant, but I have attempted to include those plants most often used as indoor potted plants. I have listed the plants that are going to be easier to keep in the average home or office.
Many of those listed, but not all, are plants that are most often used in the interior landscape industry. And because people have different names for plants and flowers, I have tried to include as many common names as possible. Hope you can find what you are looking for, if not you can send an email with your questions.
A few important things I have learned about caring for interior landscape plants are that providing good care for your plants and flowers requires attending to them on a regular schedule and that choosing plants that are well suited for growing indoors makes a world of difference. Starting with a healthy plant, one with a good root system and healthy stems and foliage.

If you have never had indoor plants before you might want to start with something like a Mother-In-Law Tongue plant, as it is a very easy indoor plant to care for. I have some pictures and links to plant care of a few of the easiest house plants further in the page. Most should be available at your local plant nursery, home improvement store, or garden center.

Common House Plants
Adiantum Fern
Adiantum fern indoor house plant care. Ferns need constant moisture and more humidity than many house plants. Not the easiest of house plants, many ferns require more care.
Aechmea Bromeliad
Two types of Aechmea bromeliad may be available at your local store, if you find any at all. The Aechmea fasciata or the Aechmea primera bromeliad. Both are very similar.
Aeschynanthus
This vining, flowering house plant is Aeschynanthus. Common name is Lipstick Plant as the flowers look like lipstick coming out of the tube. Use as hanging plant.
Aglaonema
Aglaonema plant is generally easy care, place in medium to bright light. There are quite a few varieties of Aglaonema. Most common are Ag. Maria, Silver Queen, Silver Bay.
Ag. Maria
Aglaonema Maria indoor house plant. Aglaonema Maria is one of many Aglaonema varieties. Aglaonema Maria is also called Aglaonema Emerald Beauty. A popular variety.
Ag. Silver Bay
Aglaonema Silver Bay is one of many varieties of Aglaonema plant used as house plants. Very popular as an interior landscape plant. This Aglaonema has large leaves.
Ag. Silver Queen
Aglaonema Silver Queen is an old standard and has been around since I started working in interior landscapes. Silver Queen is an attractive, easy care house plant.
Anthurium
Anthurium andraeanum is used as both a flowering house plant and a foliage house plant. This is the Anthurium plant you will find at local garden centers.
Aphelandra
Aphelandra plant is grown as foliage and flowering house plant. Aphelandra squarrosa is not easy to grow under ordinary home conditions. Common name Zebra Plant.
Arboricola
Arboricola house plant, Schefflera arboricola. Grown in bush form, standard trunk, braided trunk, or column. Medium to bright light. Easy after acclimated.
Aspidistra
Aspidistra plant. Can be grown indoors or outdoors in shade. To keep full if indoors, place in bright light. Common name for Aspidistra elatior is Cast Iron Plant.
Asplenium Nidus
Asplenium Nidus house plant, common name for this plant is Birds Nest Fern. Can grow quite large but typically found in the size used as a table or shelf plant.
Birds Nest Fern
Birds Nest Fern, yes, you just saw this plant listed. The proper botanical name for Birds Nest Fern is Asplenium nidus. A pretty fern with light green foliage.
Boston Fern
Boston Fern can be grown indoors or outdoors in shade. If kept indoors place in bright light. A popular variety of Nephrolepis fern, Nephrolepis exaltata bostoniensis.
Bromeliad Plants
Bromeliads most often used as house plants are the Guzmania bromeliad, Aechmea fasciata or primera, and the Neoregelia bromeliad. Plants for color.

Pothos Plant
Pothos is a popular house plant and will trail over the edge of the pot or climb a trellis or pole. Medium to bright light is best. Easy care house plant.
Aglaonema Plants
Aglaonema house plants are great for the home or office. Can be used as a table plant or floor plant, depending on the size. Easy to grow indoors.
Bromeliad Plant
Bromeliad plants make the list, Guzmania and Aechmea bromeliads in particular. Use bromeliad for a spot where you want to add some lasting color.
Hoya Houseplant
Hoya is a vining type of plant. Great for use as a table or shelf plant or display as a hanging plant. All green or variegated, fragrant flowers.
